2013 has begun - and oddly it is mirroring 2012. One year and one week ago today, we broke ground on the new barn - and then it rained for 2 weeks and nothing new could be done. The only difference so far has been temperatures - it has been a colder fall/winter so far than the previous year, but then we had 3 days of 60's and 70's last week. Daffodils are blooming and trees began to bud - so like last year's mild winter, we run the risk that fruit trees and perennials will make an early bid and get frozen/ My fingers are crossed that doesn't happen!
We are now seven weeks away from the new Mini's kidding dates - all three are due 1 day apart the first week of March. The warm weather had Juliette looking very unhappy as she looks very pregnant and has grown a nice winter coat - not conducive to 71 degree comfort! Raisin also looks very pregnant - Amelia is the only one that is just slightly thicker - and while I would have liked them each to have twins as have several deposits on kids, I will be more than satisfied with any healthy babies and an easy delivery for the mamas.
Columbine, Washoe's doeling from 2012, is still looking the baby of the group, though I suspect she will suddenly appear very mature when the new kids arrive! She has condescended to wear a collar, pink of course, like the other ladies, and has even forgiven me for my insistence on her lessons in handling and manners. If ever a goat rolled their eyes and had an expression of "oh please" it would be her.
